You've come to our Tax Credit donation page. We work to transform whole communities, starting with school-centered neighborhoods and the kids who live in them. In a normal year, this page would talk about the critical school-site support, after school programming and character development work we do with youth, and how those youth, and your support, are working together to carry out development projects that are changing entire low income neighborhoods - perhaps through cleanups, community gardens, starting neighborhood associations, developing eyesore vacant lots into sites with utility or curb appeal, and similar work. But this year, with COVID-19 upon us, our communities and our kids are facing bigger challenges, and one of the biggest is around food and hunger.
In turn, while we are still carrying out service with youth, building community garden projects, and supporting school projects, we've shifted a good deal of our work to securing and distributing food to families. Currently, we're supporting nearly 1,700 families with weekly food distributions and providing over 60 tons of food a month with a broad number of partners. We move food with refrigerated box trucks to get it to our communities, and often secure food from wholesale to make up for food scarcity that is hitting the largest food banks in town. Then the power of volunteers and our youth distribute over 230 family sized boxes every weekend, with each box containing approximately a week worth of food for a family of 5.
Our drive up lines are over a mile and a half long, and people are worried and scared. We don't see this work changing in the near future, and we need your help to keep going. As little as $5 will feed a kid for a week.
But now you have unimaginable power - as an Arizona tax payer, you have a tax credit at your disposal. This tax credit allows you to redirect part of your state tax obligation - up to $400 for single filers or $800 for a married couple - to a charity like ours, and support this food work. It doesn't have to be that much, it can be less! Can you imagine though? $400 is a week of food for 80 or $800 is a week of food for 160 kids! All it takes is making a donation, filing Arizona form 321 with your taxes, and waiting a couple of weeks for the State of Arizona to send you your money back.
Remarkably few people actually use this benefit each year. We hope you will. Please don't let it pass you by, and please, take a moment to spread the word to a couple of friends. To help you, there's a tax credit linked below too.
